PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Toronto director-writer Sarah Polley will receive the director of the year honourat the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The award will be presented to the "Women Talking" director at a ceremony next year in California. Adapted from Miriam Toews' novel of the same name, 'Women Talking' tells the story of a remote religious community grappling with how to respond to a serial problem of sexual abuse. The cast includes Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, and Frances McDormand.
