Selected residents of Palm Springs, California, only need to wait less than two weeks before a guaranteed income program begins paying $800 every month. The program, which is being run by nonprofit organizations Queer Works and DAP Health, selected 30 recipients earlier this year in March, and will begin the 18-month-long pay schedule on May 15. The recipients of this program will be free to spend this monthly payment in any way they see fit, according to Queer Works. Recipients will also be required to participate in a study by Queer Works, which will involve surveys taken each month.
