Selected residents of Palm Springs, California, have one week before a guaranteed income program begins sending out $800 every month. The program, which is being run by nonprofit organizations Queer Works and DAP Health, selected 30 recipients in March and will begin the 18-month-long pay schedule on May 15. Recipients of this program will be free to spend the monthly payment in any way they see fit, according to Queer Works. To have been eligible for this program, applicants must have had a yearly income of less than 30% of the median income of Riverside County, which is equal to $16,600.
